BS 5837 - Planning Application Surveys

In recent years Local Planning Authorities have been placing more and more emphasis on the importance of trees within a development.

Trees can provide amenity value and a sense of maturity to a development, raising the value of the property and making it more marketable.

Our pre-design and development reports are produced in accordance with British Standard 5837 - Trees in Relation to Construction, providing the developer with all the information that is required to support a planning application where trees are implicated and offer guidance for tree protection during the construction process.

Planning Survey
BS 5837:2005 gives recommendations and guidance on the principles to be applied, to achieve a satisfactory juxtaposition of trees, including shrubs, hedges and hedgerows, with structures. It follows, in sequence, the stages of planning and implementing the provisions which are essential to allow development to be integrated with trees. This Standard recognizes that there can be problems of development close to existing trees which are to be retained, and of planting trees close to existing structures.
